Australian Officer, Foreign decoration group of nine
This is a fascinating grouping to a colourful officer. VX14759 AK EADIE. Pre war service with 2nd cav division AASC.He enlisted for active service in May 1940, and to Africa as Lieut. Service in the Suez area with AASC, and for part of the Tobruk period, attached to General Kopanski’s Independent brigade. (Polish) Due to asthma, Captain Eadie was returned to Melbourne for home service in November 1941. In 1944, an undisclosed incident caused Eadie to be Court martialed. Noted insubordination and escape from custody. He lost rank, and discharged. Further to this, he never went to PNG, and so I believe the pacific star is his attempt at embellishing. Impressed, but odd unofficial font.
The remaining medals all official and correct.
Group consists of 39/45, Africa, Pac (NE)Def, War, ASM, QE2 Efficiency medal,Tobruk Assn. medal (Engraved correctly, and the 1989 issued Polish Cross. Only 400 presented to allies who supported General Kopanski at Tobruk. With correct clasp.
